[It's not like Dazai was chasing after Chuuya or anything, but he too needs a break after a long day, and maybe he drifted in the direction of this particular place because it's somewhere he's been with Chuuya before. While Dazai hadn't been chasing his puppy's tail around, he's not disappointed to find Chuuya, even when Chuuya is talking to some random guy. Dazai doesn't feel threatened, because he knows who he is, and he knows what he and Chuuya have and what they don't have.
... Well, it's still kind of nice to hear Chuuya say it in such embarrassing ways. Apart from anything else, it lets Dazai feel less embarrassed about his own convoluted mess of feelings.
He drops into the conversation about the same time that Chuuya says he's better - point well taken! - but he follows things for a little bit afterwards, just because it seems a shame to ruin them so quickly. When Chuuya's conversation buddy is starting to have enough about the awkwardly elsewhere-focused declarations of love, though, Dazai makes sure to catch the man's eye, waving his hand to get the man to leave.
To be fair, the man didn't need much convincing.
With him slipping away, Dazai takes his seat next to Chuuya, gesturing at the bartender for a drink. No more for Chuuya though. Sorry Chuu, you've officially had enough.]
Love is not good enough? You certainly have some high standards.
[Chuuya spins around in his chair when Dazai speaks up, spilling out some of what's left of his drink. He straightens the glass, manages not to tip it over again, then quickly finishes what's left of it.]
Dazai? What are you doing here?
[He should probably be panicked about that, considering what he just said, but he's too drunk, and keeping a train of thought is too much to expect. And he's happy! He wanted to see him! He barely even notices that the stranger leaves, but then he hadn't been anyone important.
He's going to order himself another drink unless Dazai stops him, though.]
Was gonna call you, but work ran late.
[Though if Dazai hadn't turned up, he definitely would have drunk called him at some point later.]
[Dazai has many ways he enjoys being annoying. Keeping Chuuya from drinking is a level of petty that goes too far even by Dazai's standards, but... Chuuya is already going to be suffering horrendously in the morning. And that's his own choice, but if Dazai is going to be there, then Dazai will be made to suffer along with him! So clearly preventing more drinking is a selfish and valid choice. Dazai puts a hand over Chuuya's now-empty glass, preventing a quick refill.]
Let's take a small break, hmm?
[He throws the bartender a significant look. The bartender hesitates briefly, but Dazai's attitude convinces him. It's not like anyone needs Chuuya getting even drunker at this point.]
Work will do that. [And Dazai is not worried. For all his many faults, he's not the type of clingy that he needs (or wants) Chuuya calling him all the time.] Must have been a challenge if even you needed the extra time for it.
[He could be fishing for information, but he's honestly not. If anything, maybe he's trying to distract Chuuya from further drinking.]
[Chuuya looks down at Dazai's hand covering his glass, and then, stubbornly, starts trying to pry his fingers off, one by one, as though the main issue isn't convincing the bartender that he shouldn't be cut off.]
Wasn't a challenge. Just some meetings and a bunch of paperwork.
[Definitely not Chuuya's favorite part of the job, even if he'll diligently do it either way. Normally he wouldn't even complain about it, but sometimes there's just too much, and he gets too restless just sitting on his ass all day.
And he really doesn't want to think about work right now.]
Was talking about you earlier. About how annoying you are.
[Oh no, there we go... Dazai definitely can't beat Chuuya when it comes to physical conflict. But that doesn't mean he can't cheat! For the moment, however, he just tries to keep his fingers in place over that glass. Even though Chuuya could technically just get another glass - but hey, if this works as a distraction, all the better.]
Somehow I don't recall hearing any words like "annoying"... OW OW OW!
[When it gets too hard to resist Chuuya's prying fingers, Dazai allows his own to release. Maybe it hurt a little. It definitely didn't hurt a lot. But, most importantly: being a baby and rubbing his poor injured hand with his free one is a blatant attempt at abusing Chuuya's feelings, which are always Too Much.
But, just in case, Dazai also sent the glass sliding down the bar and away from Chuuya a little bit as he pulled his hand back. Can't be too careful.]
[Dazai's plan works. Chuuya immediately forgets the glass, reaching for Dazai's hand again.]
I didn't do it that hard. You shouldn't be hurt!
[Yes, that's an apology. That's how that works. He both looks and sounds worried at least, gentle now as he checks Dazai's fingers, making sure nothing is broken or sprained, glancing back up at Dazai's face to see if wincing at any touch. He doesn't even notice the bartender taking away the glass and placing it in the dishwasher.]
Wasn't trying to hurt you. You're fine, right?
[How long can he keep holding Dazai's hand before it gets weird? Doesn't matter, because that's not gonna occur to him.]
[Dazai doesn't want to admit it, but... Chuuya is really cute when he's concerned. It almost makes Dazai want to get Chuuya to worry more often! He allows his hand to be inspected without further complaints. Okay, so maybe making Chuuya worry on purpose is something that's only good in very small (Chuuya-sized!) doses.]
I wonder... Chuuya should probably kiss it to make it better.
[... Yeaaaah, that bartender is probably going to keep his distance now. Could have at least given Dazai his drink first! But Dazai supposes he can't blame the guy.]
[Neither of them have ever had anyone who'd kiss something better for them, and it's not like they've ever needed it. Chuuya doesn't even see what something like that would do, if you're hurt. So Dazai asking for something like that doesn't make any sense, and even drunk, Chuuya knows he's not really serious. But... it could be considered a way to apologize, right? And Chuuya does want to kiss Dazai as much as he can, so...
He lifts Dazai's hand to kiss his knuckles.]
How's that?
[His cheeks are a little flushed, but that could just be the alcohol.]
[Yup, Chuuya is definitely adorable. And very much drunk, which should probably be at least something of a concern, but Dazai feels confident, after this first "test", that everything will be fine. Chuuya is being obedient enough; no truly major disasters are expected.]
It's a good start.
[He's laying it on a bit thick, but then, why wouldn't he? Even if he's playing things up a bit, it's not like he doesn't normally do that, and if it makes it easier to get Chuuya back home, so much the better.]
Why don't we get you home so I can return the favor?
[He actually just wants to get Chuuya out of the big, wide world, back home, and into his bed - for sleeping, you pervy thinker! But he figures that this is the easiest way to do that, and it's not like it would be bad if more than sleep happens.
[Everything will definitely be fine. Chuuya has spent the day thinking about wanting to see Dazai, and drunk as he is now, that feeling is all he's able to focus on. Dazai is here, and nothing else matters. He still doesn't let go of his hand.]
Don't have anything you need to kiss better.
[But he's already fumbling single-handed for his wallet so he can pay. It will be a miracle if he doesn't drop it on the floor, really.]
I can pretend? Or you can hurt me first.
[Do not ever let him know he just said that in public.]
[Dazai leans in for a whisper close to Chuuya's ear, because it's just very nice to mess with Chuuya that way. It's too easy, by all logical reasoning - especially with Chuuya this drunk! - but that makes it like the junk food of Chuuya-teasing, and apparently Dazai is in the mood for such a cheap snack.]
Should I bite your ear so we have an excuse?
[... That's probably not going to help keep Chuuya from dropping his wallet, is it? But if he does drop it, Dazai will catch it somehow. He has those skills.
He's also just intimately acquainted with Chuuya's wallet, really. But it's fine! He can do the paying. With Chuuya's money, but still.]
[Of course Chuuya drops it. He's drunk, he's touching Dazai, he has no control of gravity, and Dazai is doing that. He's too distracted to even worry about Dazai having his wallet, or what else he might be doing, besides paying. But then keeping Dazai from stealing his wallet is a long lost cause.
And the way those words raised goosebumps down his neck seems far more important.]
You should. We need the excuse.
[The bartender, having noticed the wallet being pulled out, is coming back over towards them. Chuuya will definitely never be able to come back here.]
[Having caught the wallet, Dazai lets out the tiniest little snort at Chuuya's over-eager response. He could have held it back, sure, but with Chuuya drunk, does he really need to bother? It's cute when Chuuya is far enough gone that he doesn't bother hiding what he wants.]
Since we need it, then~
[Chuuya does deserve a reward for being so cute, but Dazai doesn't want to make a big scene, so while he does indeed bite Chuuya's ear as promised, he isn't rough about it at all. It's the thought that counts, right? The bartender, meanwhile, desperately wants to retreat mid-approach, but that would be more awkward than staying where he is, so he kind of lingers, like a deer in headlights. (At least nobody was giving head!) Getting up, Dazai gives Chuuya's butt a little pat, encouraging him to follow his example. It's about time for them to leave, and while Dazai will insist on touching Chuuya again soon enough, it's probably more convenient to let Chuuya get up while in full control of gravity. That does tend to be a rather brutal moment of truth for all intoxication that happened while seated, after all.
Dazai doesn't look at the bartender, simply putting down a fair amount of money on the bar before slipping Chuuya's wallet into his own pocket (for now! ... probably just for now). It should be enough, and while tipping is generally frowned upon, well... Chuuya did create kind of a mess, probably, scaring away other clients if nothing else. It's fair payment.]
[Chuuya even tilts his head for easier access to his ear, only for the bite not to hurt at all. He's about to object to that when Dazai gets up from his chair - and Chuuya reflexively does the same when Dazai pats his butt. And then he notices the other people in the bar. And nearly falls over as gravity and the realization that this is public hits all at once.
His ability is the only thing that saves him. Dazai really knows him too well.]
Dazai -- We should go.
[Hurry out of there, he means. Before his face burns up.]
[It would indeed be a shame if that cute face melted off. Just as well that Dazai was way ahead of Chuuya.]
That's why we got up, isn't it?
[Unless Chuuya was hoping for a quickie in the bathroom area, which -... Well, Dazai wouldn't have minded that either, and he feels like he paid enough to earn the right, but... it's safer to just take Chuuya home. Not all of the alcohol is in his system yet, and Dazai would rather be somewhere safe if Chuuya passes out or something.
That, and Dazai isn't 100% sure that Chuuya wouldn't barf on him if he fucked him here and now. So! A wiser choice all around, clearly!
If Chuuya feels better to not be seen at the moment, it's fine, Dazai will put an arm around him soon enough - once he's convinced that it won't simply lead to Chuuya crashing to the ground. That's one benefit of a tall boyfriend: ample coverage! ... Also that big coat that Chuuya can hide under if he's really really determined to. But Dazai will absolutely mock him if he does.]
[At least once they're out of the bar, they'll be away from anyone who saw that behavior, and the further away they get, the smaller the possibility of running into them again. He probably doesn't need to hide from strangers on the street. He still kind of wants to, just in case.
He tenses briefly when Dazai puts an arm around him, like that will bring back the humiliation, and make everyone realize what they just did.]
I can never go back there. And you didn't even bite me properly.
[When your priorities are not straight, but very, very gay. Still, Dazai doesn't mind that. He won't even make a deliberately slow exit, even though that would lead to more humiliation for Chuuya. What a nice guy! (... Well, he also has his own reasons for that, as stated above.)]
Didn't I? [Nah, not really. But he doesn't feel like admitting that, and so he doesn't.] Maybe you've just drunk so much that you couldn't feel it properly.
[Definitely unlikely, but not without a potential grain of truth, either, so Dazai is happy to run with that. Leaving the bar, he keeps an arm around Chuuya, though now it's mostly because it's getting cold out, and Chuuya has always been a convenient space heater, especially when fueled by alcohol.]
[He's not that easily fooled. He was promised a bite, and so he will have his bite. Except that with how drunk he is, he'll probably forget it the second something distracts him again.]
At least now they know why I wasn't interested in that boring guy.
[Definitely still really drunk. But clearly this is the best way to recover from how embarrassed he felt. Even if he'd normally be ten times as embarrassed from having said that. But for now he'll just lean into Dazai, a little heavier than he normally would because of the alcohol, but at least he's not fully losing his balance.]
[Teeth are teeth! It still counts!! But Dazai may still be open to a redo at some point. He really shouldn't bother to argue with Chuuya anyway, considering how drunk Chuuya is, but some habits die hard.]
Mhm. They definitely know that now.
[Or do they? Does anyone except the boring guy in question even care?! ... Maybe Dazai is the one who can't go back to that bar again, really...]
Are you alright to walk a bit?
[They should probably go to Dazai's place for a change, since it's closer, but it's also decidedly not up to Chuuya's standards. Of course they could just take a taxi or something, but... well, that's not without risks - and besides, Dazai doesn't really want to share Chuuya with the world again, so shortly after reclaiming him.]
[No, there's definitely no point in arguing if the point is to convince Chuuya in any way. He's drunk enough that he's definitely not actually considering the points being made here, and he was never going to back down where sex is involved to begin with. On the other hand, it probably won't be long until Chuuya loses track of the conversation and forgets what the argument was about.]
Yeah, I can walk.
[By leaning into Dazai, at least. But it's not like Chuuya is too heavy, evne if he's putting more weight on Dazai than he normally would. And it's also just nice, to be in each other's space like this. He's honestly not thinking much about why Dazai is asking what he's asking.
He'll go where Dazai leads. Something that no sane person should ever do.]
[How fortunate, then, that Chuuya isn't exactly what most people would call sane!]
You're probably right.
[It's far too casual a lie, but then, Dazai is an expert at lying. Dazai could definitely carry Chuuya, if he really had to. But he doesn't have to, and he's not going to provoke Chuuya into trying to make him do it anyway. Chuuya is stubborn enough as it is; with alcohol to strengthen that even further, Dazai really doesn't want to deal with Chuuya's demands. (Unless they coincide with his own wants, of course!)
And so it's a fairly non-eventful walk to Dazai's apartment. Dazai has to let go of Chuuya to some degree to open the door, but hopefully Chuuya won't fall over. The fresh air may have done him some good, anyway.
After that... Well, Dazai should probably make Chuuya eat something, but that requires getting food. And he should probably get Chuuya to at least shower, but that takes effort, too! Far better to just be lazy together, really.]
[Lazy is a good option. Chuuya isn't going to complain about the lack of catering, and the shower can wait until morning. He's a bit too distracted poking around Dazai's apartment, because he's not there too often, and he's too drunk to bother being considerate.
He finds some half-eaten snacks and claims them as his own, before opening a couple of drawers.]
You need more stuff.
[More stuff for Chuuya to go through, because clearly entertaining him while he's drunk is the purpose of decorating an apartment. But at least he's not trying to find himself any more booze to drink.
And he'll be very easy to guide away from snooping and over to wherever Dazai wants him instead, especially if physical contact is involved.]
[Dazai quietly locks the door in a way that, while it no doubt can still be opened from the inside, should at least make it a little harder to do for a drunk person - like by removing the door knob, or something similar. He's got Chuuya safely off the streets, which was his main goal; he's not eager to actively babysit the baby-sized executive.
Chuuya can snoop a bit if he wants. Dazai certainly doesn't have anything of any real value (emotional or otherwise) at his place, and this way Chuuya can burn off some energy - for now, at least. Dazai should really at least get Chuuya to drink some water, but... effort. Dazai's just going to chill on top of his futon, which he definitely didn't put away.]
What stuff?
[He knows what Chuuya means, really. But he's still curious to hear what Chuuya will say.]
Any stuff. You're always going through my stuff, so you need something here for me to find.
[Flawless logic, clearly. How dare Dazai not have snoopable drawers. Though he's distracted from that disappointment by realizing what Dazai just did to the door. He has to go over to investigate that, too, though.]
Did you just kidnap me?
[His voice suggests that being kidnapped by Dazai sounds kinda fun, actually. But then, if he really wanted to escape, he could just go through the wall, so at best this would slow him down. But it does get his attention fully back on Dazai.
[Dazai is hoping that Chuuya isn't yet drunk enough to bang his way through random walls; he does usually pass out before getting quite that bad. Still, if Chuuya's gonna wreck the place, so be it. Dazai will just make him pay - literally, that is! - later.]
Mhm.
[Definitely a kidnapping. Clearly so. When Chuuya looks at him, Dazai pats the spot on the futon next to him. Sit your ass down, you drunk mini mafia, you!]

Maybe he'll join him on that futon.]

Mhm.
[Definitely a kidnapping. Clearly so. When Chuuya looks at him, Dazai pats the spot on the futon next to him. Sit your ass down, you drunk mini mafia, you!]
What do you think I should ask for ransom?
